Do you remember your 80’s CD holder that had many drawers and tiny knobs for opening and closing? Is it now sitting in your garage or basement? Christine from letsgetcrafty had the same CD holder waiting for a makeover and you’ll be surprised at how beautiful it is now.
The new look is that of a vintage industrial apothecary cabinet. After painting and applying a dark wax, Christine used her sander to create a distressed look in some areas. Finally, a dark brown gel stain was added and allowed to dry. At this point, she randomly sanded the stain to create an uneven aged look to the wood. The finishing touch was for Christine to replace the old knobs with label pulls she purchased online. She cautions us to make sure we create a template for pre-drilling the holes for the screws used with the new pulls.
The final piece has all the vintage charm of a turn-of-the-century apothecary console.

Wow - what a great result. A lot of work, though, whew! I got tired just reading the description :) Turned out fabulously. Wish I had that kind of vision, talent - and patience!
