On a shopping trip at the local thrift store, Debbie from One Day at a Time came across a vase with a really cool shape. The color, however, wasn’t quite so cool. Debbie combined elements from other vases she liked to give her thrift store find a rich metallic makeover that’s perfect for fall. Debbie shares how she used spray paint to create the textured finish on her originally smooth vase.
Although timeliness may not be a strong suit for Morena of Morena’s Corner, she ironically has a thing for clocks. Steph from Building This Nest had been craving some change to the throw pillows on her couch and loved the look of a pretty rosette pillow cover from Anthropologie. Unfortunately, $58 was definitely not in her budget for a cover alone, and she knew she could make it for way less. Using a $3 sheet from the thrift store, Steph sewed up a cover to fit a pillow form she already had and saved herself a pretty penny. Well, 5,500 pennies actually!
Lisa from Salt March Cottage has been working to rebuild and refurnish her beach cottage which was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Understandable, controlling costs is a must. Lisa fell hard for a demijohn jug lamp with burlap shade, but the $269 stood in the way of Lisa and her dream lamp.
