DIY Console Table From Turned Legs

Do you have a narrow space in your entryway or a narrow hall? This is the perfect place for a console table which is a practical solution for where to put car keys, mail, or the newspaper. Ashley and Whitney from shanty-2-chic have created a simple yet beautiful console table using only purchased turned legs and 2 X 10 boards for the shelving on the top and bottom of the table.

Happily, not only do Ashley and Whitney provide us with instructions, a complete supply list, and detailed photos, they also have available a free download of the plans for this project. Because they added trim to the table, it looks sturdy and beautifully finished.

The final step was to stain, paint and distress the table before mounting it to the hallway wall. One of the tricks they teach us is to use a bit of vaseline on the edges where the project will be distressed to act as a shield to allow only the top coat of paint to be removed and the stain underneath to show through.
