behr graceful gray featured image

Whenever you come across a paint color, it’s good practice not to judge it on the basis of its name.

Just like this Behr paint color that mentions ‘gray’…it isn’t a true gray at all!

Yes, Behr Graceful Gray is rather a greige paint color that blends the tones of gray and beige to exhibit a sophisticated and elegant appeal.

This is neither too gray nor too beige – it’s actually somewhere in between that definitely falls on the warmer end of the scale.

As a greige paint color it can add character and depth to your walls – without getting washed away in excessive natural light.

Behr Graceful Gray PPU18-12 Details and Specifications

When talking about the ‘gray’, ‘beige’, or ‘greige’ color category – it’s of utmost importance to have an eye on the details and specifications.

And especially with ‘greige’ – you must be extra careful since this color category takes hints from both grays and beiges.

So, first and foremost, let me introduce you to the concept of Light Reflectance Values or the LRVs that determine how light or dark the paint color is.

You can easily find that value on the Behr website.

Here, in this case, the LRV of Behr Graceful Gray is 47.

And that means it falls on the medium end of the scale – well, falling somewhere on the medium to a dark end.

However, when you intend to use this paint in a large room, it’s bound to look lighter!

(Remember, the greater the value, the lighter the paint – on a scale of 0-100)

Also, just in case you wonder where to find the Behr decks – well, simply visit your nearest Home Depot store!

Secondly, other important associated terms are the RGB and the HEX Values.

Red = 190

Green = 182

Blue = 172

HEX Value = #C0BAB0

Since we have discussed the technical and scientific information, let’s get started with the practical aspects of this warm gray Behr paint.

How Does This Color Feel in a Space?

Behr Graceful Gray will gracefully add a sense of warmth, coziness, and restfulness to your space.

This color has immense depth, so it can undeniably weigh down the walls and make them look heavier. (And this is where you must take natural light into consideration)

So, overall, this color will make your room seem smaller – with the heavy texture of the color on the walls.

Yes, if you want to create an illusion of a balanced space, this color is a great option.

Painting this color on the walls will bring them closer to creating a cozy atmosphere.

Moreover, this color truly exhibits the ‘traditional’ vibe – so, if you have ample wooden textures to deal with – this color is your go-to!

Light has a major role to play here!

And do you know why? Well, that’s because the falling natural light will determine if this greige feels gray or beige!

With no light, there simply isn’t any color.

So, depending upon the compass directions, the appearance of this color may vary.

For instance, in the north-facing rooms, this greige paint will highlight a slightly grayish tone – but again, something like warm gray which is not too warm.

On the other hand, in the south-facing rooms, this greige is going to reflect a deep warm taupe-like undertone that’s extremely warm and cozy!

Moreover, if you have a large front lawn-facing window, the greige may also reflect a tiny green undertone.

A Pro Tip: Always examine the swatch in various lighting conditions to know what it will truly feel like.

What are the Best Coordinating Colors?

Greiges are quite straightforward and simple to work with – at some points.

And I say that with absolute confidence.

You simply can’t pair any random hue with the other. And moreover, if you have a great command of the color wheel, it’s like a cherry on the top.

Hence, Behr Graceful Gray can be best paired with shades of off-white (creamy), midnight blues, dark brown (taupes), and lighter beiges.

Yes, it’s restricted to only a few colors.

However, you must remember to be very careful when pairing them – so as to avoid making a mess!

Also, if you are planning to introduce material and metallic accents through floating shelves, chandelier, artwork frames, and furniture frames – remember to add tinges of matte black, chrome, or brushed brass. (Brushed brass is quite a trend)

Discussing further, you have the option to choose from either a monochromatic or contrasting color palette!

Here are a few of the colors I would recommend for a monochromatic color palette!

  • PPU18-13 Perfect Taupe
  • N320-5 Gray Squirrel
  • N320-6 Arrowhead

Here are a few of the colors I would recommend for a contrasting color palette!

For your ceilings, trims, and moldings – you can use Behr Ultra Pure White or Behr Polar Bear as it is a true white paint and will further protrude the original adjacent hue.

Picking similar colors isn’t challenging as far as you know what exactly you want!

They won’t be exactly the same – however, will differ in the undertones or reflectivity.

So, the two closely related colors are BM CSP-100 Cosmopolitan and SW 7030 Anew Gray.

Let’s see how all of them differ.

Where to Use Graceful Gray?

Behr Graceful Gray is such a versatile paint color that it can easily fit into any design style and interior background.

So, if you’re ever confused about a particular color palette or your design style – this color will always play one for all!

In the traditional style with lots and lots of walnut wood – this color will play tremendously well.

Whether it’s the kitchen, exterior walls, bedroom walls or even the wall paneling – this color would play flawless.

So, let’s see where and how to incorporate this color into your home.

Graceful Gray in Living and Dining Rooms

You can consider painting all the walls of your living and dining in this paint color. (Only if the size and natural light allows)

To complement these walls, you can best add wooden textures on your furniture and even choose white as a base for some accent furniture.

For a visual sense of contrast, add midnight blues or greens on the accent pillows or artwork.

However, if you prefer a modern, Japandi, or minimalist style – choose the different shades of this color to play timeless.

In terms of metallic accents, don’t hold back from powder-coated black!

Using in Bedrooms

You can definitely use this paint color in your bedroom as well as the kids’ bedrooms.

Yes, it will play soothing and can turn your bedroom into a warm and cozy haven.

However, if it feels too dark to paint this color on all the walls – just consider it on the wall paneling or the accent wall.

Furthermore, choose matte black for the furniture frames and any other accents in the room.

Graceful Gray in Kitchens

The greige paint on the kitchen cabinets will overwhelm it and make it feel more refined.

Yes, you can use it in the kitchen but only after analyzing if this paint isn’t weighing down your space.

I highly recommend adding creamy and warm whites with the help of backsplash tiles, countertop, and backdrop paint.

Lastly, don’t hold back from rustic wooden textures with the help of floating shelves, island table finish, and artwork frames.

Using on Exteriors

This color can be used in most exterior design styles – whether contemporary, modern, colonial, ranch-style, industrial, and mid-century modern exterior design style.

You can either add bold grays, blues, blacks, or even a tinge of greige to complete the exterior palette.

For the exterior doors, windows, and shutters – you can pick a bold brown, blue, or medium sage green paint color that can easily blend in.

Otherwise, for a contrasting touch, add pops of blues or reds!

In the case of columns on the patio and porch – you can use natural stone wainscotting to add an authentic detailed character to this facade!

So, how do you plan to use this color in your home?

Kitchen cabinets or focal console tables? Living room or bedrooms?

Well, trust me! You won’t regret using this color in and around your home. It’s timeless and versatile!
