Ali from Honey & Maple Syrup blew me away with her rendition of these airplane panels. She hand painted them! I am always astonished by those who have the power to paint! These are gorgeous and look exactly like the originals.
The original inspiration came from the Planked Airplane Panels found at Pottery Barn for $299.
You must go check out Honey & Maple Syrup to see the step-by-step process.

I tried drawing this before Christmas and it was terrible. I really wanted to be able to do it since we drew my BIL, who is a pilot, name.

I have been trying to find a good sub for these planes at PB:
http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/vintage-plane-art/?pkey=bart-gallery&bnrid=3517705&cm_ven=AfCompShop&cm_cat=ShopStyle&cm_pla=GAN&cm_ite=Std
and there are some good finds on etsy:

The artist said she does custom work too, but I think it is more expensive.
This is the best DIY for the 4 panel I have seen. I may have to give it a shot.
