Inspired by glass cloches, like those from Restoration Hardware, Susan of saf affect was on the hunt for a thrifty alternative. She scored two industrial glass light fixture globes at a Habitat for Humanity Restore for only a few dollars. Placed on a tray with a few interesting objects, you’d never guess they were once used for lighting. What a great repurpose!
Even a cross-country move cannot squelch the design and DIY savvy of Sarah from Sarah M. Dorsey. The girl is uber talented! Sarah busted just enough of her tools out of boxes to create this modern tripod floor lamp from copper piping. DIYing an entire lamp may sound challenging, but believe me when I say that Sarah’s tutorial makes it as easy as pie!
Katie from Addicted to DIY had been wanting a console table to fill a “dull, empty space” by her front door, but her husband wasn’t game on spending a $1,000 for one. Katie came up with the brilliant plan that they save their hard earned cash and build a table instead of buy one. Fortunately, KariAnne realized she could save almost all those pennies by creating her own DIY version of that mirror on the cheap. You will never guess how she pulled it off – compact mirrors! And from the dollar store no less!
Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew shares a fabulous pillow cover tutorial to dress up those tired throw pillows this fall. Best of all, this is a “scrap buster” project designed to use up some of that scrap fabric that is taking up valuable closet space. For this fall-inspired pillow, Allison chose fabrics that simulate the colors or fallen leaves. However, Allison points out that the design possibilities are pretty much endless. Just check out the flower pillow she made using the same technique.
