And in one hour no less! Whitney’s easy DIY chalkboard tutorial builds upon an existing chalkboard that she purchased from Hobby Lobby. Whitney added on to the existing frame with some furring strips and pine casing, transforming the plain Jane frame into a real showstopper!

That’s when the possibility sewing your own custom curtains starts looking pretty good, and Carissa of Carissa Miss shows that it doesn’t have to break the bank! Carissa found curtains that she loved for her daughter’s nursery, but they fell short in many ways. By sewing her own curtains, Carissa was able to add the grommets and lining she wanted and get the perfect width and length for her space!

Lisa from Salt Marsh Cottage fell in love with an eclectic dresser that looked like it had been “crafted from random pieces of reclaimed wood.” Since it was discontinued (and $495!), Lisa recreated the effect with an unfinished pine dresser from IKEA. The unassembled piece made the project a cinch and only cost $35. As Lisa says, this is a great project even if you don’t consider yourself a great painter. Imperfection is part of the beauty, so you really can’t mess it up!
