A bed without a headboard can be a boring thing, but if you live on a tight budget, maybe a headboard is the last thing on your list you wish to spend money on. Emily from scribblesfromemily shows us how to create a beautiful custom headboard using old or reclaimed pallets.
This is a relatively simple project starting with deconstructing the pallet and removing any old screws or nails. Four boards placed horizontally are the perfect number to build a headboard for a double bed. Once the boards are joined together and the headboard is sanded, it’s time to stain the wood. Emily supplies a genius recipe for creating your own stain using vinegar and a steel wool pad placed inside a glass jar. The resulting stain is absolutely beautiful.
The stain is painted on and when it’s dry, it’s time to attach legs to the headboard and attach it to the bed frame.
