Do you have a dining table that has seen better days? If you have, and if your table has a sturdy base, you can follow the tutorial by Kat of mapleleavessycamoretrees and create a one-of-a-kind rustic farmhouse table. The table she started with was a typical but nondescript table that didn’t reflect her taste.
She began by taking off the old table top and because the old top was one large piece of wood and the new top would be created using individual boards, she then screwed in several boards to the table base which would allow the new boards to be placed individually across the top. six barn boards were secured to the base of the old table, and they were then cut uniformly across the table.
Once the boards were secure, the top was sanded and several coats of mineral oil were rubbed into the top. Finally, the legs were painted grey and the entire table was coated with a poly finisher.
