Erika from Retropolitan purchased a few sheets of marbled paper online and used it to recover an old wooden box she had picked up at the thrift store for a couple dollars. She says, “It was a fairly easy decoupage project that took about a half hour to do. I think it turned out pretty great for only $3 and a few minutes of my time.” After making over her box, Erika just so happened to notice that West Elm sells an agate box that looks crazy similar for $49 to $79!

Megan from Homemade Ginger had been looking for a solid set of table lamps for her office desk but didn’t want to spend much money. After diligently looking at thrift stores for months, she found a set of honeycomb lamps that needed some TLC. With some spray paint, a little tweaking, and a modern lamp shade, these lamps look like new ones worth hundreds of dollars!

This time of year I know we are all eager to infuse our homes with as much warmth and coziness as possible. Not much says warm and cozy like a comfy old sweater, so why not turn one into a pillow? Zandi from Radical Possibility went shopping in the fabric sweater aisle at her local thrift store for a couple of sweaters to repurpose. Zandi found two perfect sweaters and loves how they satisfy her desire for clean, modern lines and also her need “to nest and be cozy.”

A big bag of pet food can be quite the eyesore in your home, and Ballard Designs offers the perfect solution with their stylish food storage containers. However, at $55-$59 a piece, Erin from Elizabeth Joan Designs says you might as well just keep the food in the bag or make your own stylish pet food bin. Of course, crafty sister Erin chose the latter of the two! She hit up the thrift store for a popcorn tin and updated it with some horizontal painted stripes. The canister even has Erin’s Golden Retriever’s seal of approval, so you know it must be pretty awesome {Wink}!

On a shopping trip at the local thrift store, Debbie from One Day at a Time came across a vase with a really cool shape. The color, however, wasn’t quite so cool. Debbie combined elements from other vases she liked to give her thrift store find a rich metallic makeover that’s perfect for fall. Debbie shares how she used spray paint to create the textured finish on her originally smooth vase.
