Easiest DIY Wall Ledge Ever

Steph from Newlywed Nesters took a friend’s recommendation to try out Shanty 2 Chic’s “shelves anyone can build” with plans from Ana White. As promised, the project was simple and inexpensive! Steph ended up building four three-foot ledges, which would have run her $45 dollars a piece at good old Pottery Barn. Thank goodness for DIY! Steph says the best part is that the shelves allow her to rearrange to her heart’s content without having to patch holes and rehang frames.

Metal and Wood Bathroom Shelf

Aly from Entirely Eventful Day wanted a beautiful weathered wood étagère from Restoration Hardware for her master bathroom. The problem? She didn’t have $700 to purchase it. What Aly did have was an old, metal, over-the-toilet shelving system. Aly refabbed the shelf with a fresh coat of glossy white paint and some wood to give it a more substantial and expensive look like her inspiration.

Faux Mantel Wall Shelves

If you bemoan the fact that you don’t have a mantel and, therefore, a place displaying for cutesy holiday vignettes, you’ve got to check out these shelves from Mallory at Classy Clutter! Mallory built simple wall shelves by adding trim and corbels to a MDF board. These look great clustered together, so you can customize the number and size of your shelves to meet your space and decorative needs. Doesn’t Mallory’s suh-weet Valentine’s display make you want to build one right now!?!

Wall Book Rack

After getting bunk beds for her boys’ room, Jen from Scissors and Spatulas wanted a wall-hanging book bin like those from Land of Nod for her little guy on the top. There was no way though she was paying $70 for “a few pieces of wood.”  Jen’s hubby grabbed some scrap wood and trim pieces from the garage and put a book rack together with just a few screws and nails.
Jen painted it blue, and it’s just like the real deal. The only difference… about $65!

Spinning Storage Shelf

In need of storage for her craft space, Jeanette from Country Design Style created a revolving shelf that has room to spare. Jeanette added her own flair by gluing various styles of trim to the top and bottom. I love how accessible everything is with this design. Instead of searching around in a cabinet or drawer, just give it a spin and craft away!
