Repurpose Cake Pans into Tiered Stand

From serving snacks and beverages to organizing craft supplies, there are TONS of uses for tiered trays. However, in my book that still doesn’t merit a monster price tag. Kirsten of The Crafting Chicks shows how you can turn a few items from the thrift store into your own stylish tiered stand. Kirsten simply painted her candlesticks and then glued them between the cake pans to create her stand. I love that this is made from repurposed materials and cost only $6, especially considering what a versatile piece it is!

Geometric Stained Wood Wall Décor

Mrs. Hamilton of His House Her Home is a lover of Pottery Barn but not their prices and decided it was time save her bucks and try her hand at creating her own wooden artwork. While Pottery Barn may have been been the original inspiration for this piece, Mrs. Hamilton says it was Ashley from Shanty 2 Chic who gave her the confidence “to break out the saw and get to work!” I’d say she did a pretty awesome job!

Halloween Skeleton Hand Vase

There are knock off projects that save you a bundle but take hours to complete. Then there are those that save you a bundle but take only 15 minutes or less to complete. This Halloween project from Angie of The Country Chic Cottage is the latter. Woohoo! Angie simply painted a thrifted vase white and then glued on a white foam bone hand from the dollar store. Already have a white vase? Then you are looking at a minute or two for a pretty convincing Pottery Barn knock off!

Painted Wooden Halloween Signs

Not wanting to be left out of the Halloween decorating fun in her neighborhood, Lorraine from South Meets Southwest whipped up a few spooky signs to welcome trick-or-treaters to her house. Lorraine saved money by using wood from Home Depot’s scrap pile and paint she already had, making the grand total for all three signs $1.50! Lorraine says, “We might be the last house on our block to decorate for Halloween, but I am just glad I finished these signs before the first trick-or-treater arrived!”

DIY Chalkboard with Halloween Chalk Art

Last Halloween, one of Pottery Barn’s fabulous Halloween vignettes, specifically a large chalkboard, caught the eye of Julie from Lilacs and Longhorns. Julie knew she could easily make her own chalkboard and replicate the spooky chalk art to boot. An open back frame, hardboard, and chalkboard paint made creating the chalkboard a breeze. As far as the spooky Halloween script, Julie says, “It was very, very easy…if you can draw a line, you can copy this font.” Sounds like my kind of art!
