Silver Starburst Mirror

I am thrilled to have Mrs. Polly Rogers back with another of her fabulous and frugal creations, and let me say that her starburst mirror is a true lesson in thriftiness! The secret ingredient here is bendy straws that Polly painted silver and attached to an inexpensive round mirror. Polly says, “This project is fast, cheap, and easy but DRAMATIC and stands up to the closest scrutiny.”

Stenciled Wall Mirror

You all know I have about of a love affair with stenciling. With the endless design options and potential for taking the ordinary to extraordinary, there’s a lot to love. One thing I am yet to try stenciling is a mirror, but Beth from Free Stylin’ does a fabulous job showing how it’s done. She used a large stencil to transform a cheapo door mirror into a stunning decorative piece. Amazingly, the pattern is almost identical to her Ballard inspiration!

Popsicle Stick Sunburst Mirror

Melissa from The Happier Homemaker finally jumped on the sunburst mirror bandwagon after seeing an inspiration piece by Ballard Designs made of bone. Melissa had the instant idea to use popsicle sticks and an old clock from her stash to recreate it. I don’t think you could ask for better rays than those popsicle sticks!

Hanging Rope Mirrors

Kelly from The Lily Pad Cottage has been obsessed with the rope mirrors in the Pottery Barn catalog this summer. Also loving the idea of hanging framed photo displays from old boat ropes and dock cleats, Kelly combined the two looks to make her own nautical rope mirrors for her master bedroom.  It cost Kelly about $30 to make two mirrors, a great savings from Pottery Barn’s pricey counterparts!

Nautical Porthole Mirror

Susan from Homeroad says, “Nothing gives me quite the thrill as looking over a new catalog and finding something  I like… Nothing that is, except realizing that I have all the pieces and can make it myself!” So was the story of this nautical mirror that Susan created. I would be pretty psyched too if I were Susan since it’s not like everyone has a weathered nautical piece sitting around. It just goes to show that you never know when those odds and ends from thrift stores and flea markets will come in handy! {wink}
