Yarn Stitched Rug

With a needle and yarn, you can give a whole new personality to a plain old bathmat. Kinsey at Sincerely, Kinsey came up with this great idea for creating her own rug with Southwestern flair when she fell for a pricey desert mat from Anthropologie. Kinsey first created a template with chalk on the back of her rug and then stitched away.  Just think of all the design possibilities!

Dollar Store Tiled Mirror

Heather from Dollar Store Crafts shares how you can create a Pottery Barn inspired mirror for only $10. Sounds pretty good, huh? But wait… there’s more! It also requires no tools. Heather attached together small framed mirrors from the dollar store (of course!) with duct tape and glue to create a larger multi-panel mirror. It doesn’t get any cheaper than this for a generously-size mirror! Plus, you can easily customize the size of your mirror by adjusting how many mirrors you use.

Modern Farmhouse Desk

There is no question why Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic is head over heals for the new desk she built following plans from Ana White. After adding her fifth little one to the brood, Whitney needed a work space in her master bedroom that was both functional and pretty. This desk definitely fits the bill and, amazingly, only cost Whitney $55 to build!

Wall Book Rack

After getting bunk beds for her boys’ room, Jen from Scissors and Spatulas wanted a wall-hanging book bin like those from Land of Nod for her little guy on the top. There was no way though she was paying $70 for “a few pieces of wood.”  Jen’s hubby grabbed some scrap wood and trim pieces from the garage and put a book rack together with just a few screws and nails.
Jen painted it blue, and it’s just like the real deal. The only difference… about $65!
