Storage is a problem we continually deal with in our lives. In a guest room, where do you store extra blankets and pillows? In a child’s room, where do you store toys? The same problem occurs outdoors where we have all sorts of things from extra planting pots to outdoor games that need a place to be. Dana from ruggydiy has created a beautiful and functional solution for many storage problems.
She found an old headboard and footboard on Craig’s List and used it to construct a standout bench with built-in storage. Dana explains how she cut the footboard in half to create armrests for her bench. Because she also wanted storage, she built a platform/seat from 2 X 4’s and used piano hinges to attach it to the frame.
Dana used a black outdoor stain to finish the piece and wiped much of it off to give the piece an antique look. The end product is attractive, welcoming and useful.
