Susan from This Makes That had been on the hunt for the perfect coffee table for over a year. She knew she wanted something a little rustic with reclaimed wood but didn’t want it to be too country or industrial. Susan asked her husband if he could make a table, and he came through with this beauty. He even went as far as to purchase reclaimed wood from a 1906 schoolhouse! How cool is that? Susan says, “I’m so pleased with the results. It is EXACTLY the look and color I wanted for our family room coffee table.”
The original inspiration came from the retired Cortona Coffee Table from Pottery Barn.

Hi Beckie! Thanks for featuring my coffee table! What a nice surprise!
Can you tell me what stain you used?
Hi Liz, This is from Susans’ site: “After a lot of experimenting, he came up with the winning formula. We pretreated the wood with Charles Neil’s Pre-Color Conditioner then used Minwax Special Walnut (satin) for the stain then used Minwax Polyshades Mission Oak (Satin) for the poly coat.” You can click on the link in my feature to visit Susan site and see all the details about her table. Hope that helps.
