Framed Map Art–Great for Large Walls!

Camille from Chez Moi loved the look of a nine-panel framed map of Paris to put above the couch in her living room, but… she sure didn’t have $1K to blow. Instead, Camille used a 1739 pen-and-ink reproduction that she ordered from Amazon and nine 16 x 20 frames from Target to recreate for a fraction of the cost. Camille says, “Easy, inexpensive, and a great way to fill a large wall!”

Turn an Old Window into Fourth of July Décor

The minute Shannon from High Wire Living laid eyes on Ethan Allen’s American flag “Foundation,” she was in love. Unfortunately, $999.00 was more than she could afford. However, she did have an old window sitting in the corner of her bedroom begging for some love. With some vintage-look scrapbook paper and acrylic paint, Shannon was able to transform the window into a similar look. The cost? $40.00, which includes the cost of the window and the materials to make it!

Add Texture with a Ruffled Burlap Lampshade

Magan from Magan’s Lens added texture and interest to a plain lampshade with ruffles and burlap. If you can operate scissors and a hot glue gun, you can make your own! The imperfection of the frayed edges and wayward ruffles are part of the shade’s appeal so this is a very forgiving project. Here’s how Magan describes the impact of her new lampshade, “It really stands out in the living room, whereas our old one just blended right into the wall.”

Build Your Own Kids Armoire

Here’s the latest DIY furniture addition to her daughter’s big girl room from Whitney at Shanty 2 Chic. Whitney followed plans from Ana White to construct this gorgeous armoire that is jam packed with storage. The inside has both shelves and drawers so there’s plenty of room for clothes, toys, and even a television. My favorite part is that you can simply shut the doors to hide away any mess. That’s my favorite way to clean {wink}!
