Dining Table Makeover with DIY Zinc Tabletop

Traci from Beneath My Heart had been planning a makeover for her well-loved table for quite sometime and knew exactly the look she wanted – a zinc tabletop with distressed base. Traci did an easy update to her existing table base with some chalk paint and then got creative with the zinc tabletop, covering a piece of MDF with steel and aging it with muriatic acid. I love that you can use these steps to completely transform any old table or desk!

Embroidery Hoop Orb Pendant Light

Jessica of Dear Emmeline was inspired by a fellow blogger to create a geometric pendant light with tons of style but not tons of work! Jessica created the orb-shaped frame by simply connecting embroidery hoops. She then fed through a pendant light kit, popped in a filament bulb, and voila! This light fixture looks waaay pricier than the expense of a couple of embroidery hoops!

DIY Reclaimed Wood Shelf

Gretchen of Boxy Colonial needed display shelves for her boys’ bedroom and liked the look of some reclaimed wood shelves from West Elm. However, at $58 for the smallest shelf, it simply wasn’t happening. Instead, Gretchen enlisted her husband and two sons to make these look-a-likes with wood “reclaimed” from the scrap pile. I have a feeling it didn’t take too much persuading to get them to bang up the boards with hammers and screwdrivers {wink}!
