One of the ways we personalize our homes is by the art we choose to display. Sometimes the art we love is also out of our price range. When this happens, as it did to Katie and Eric from mountainmodernlife they created their own version of the sculpture they fell in love with.
They walk us through the steps for creating a beautiful and functional wall hanging. Because the artwork you create will reflect your individual taste, keep in mind that the cutting directions for the wood pieces given in the tutorial are only a suggestion. Once the wood was cut, it was sanded and stained in a deep oak color. Next, copper foil and liquid gold paint were applied to sections of the board that had been sectioned off with painter’s tape.
A good comparison between the merits of foil, leaf, and paint is provided for your edification. Finally, a hook and hanging hardware were added to the sculpture.
