Alicia at Thriftyandchic has created the perfect piece to add warmth and beauty to your mantle. She designed and constructed a miniature rustic barn door to sit on her mantle.
Alicia gives us a supply list which is quite short and explains in detail how to build the door. She used cedar planks, but almost any wood will do for this project. Alicia even gives instructions for adding the ever-present “Z”, making the door look life-like. Because she didn’t want the door to be a stark white, Alicia painted the door using a method that allows the grain of the wood to show through.
Different accents can be added to the door periodically to celebrate the changing seasons. If you don’t happen to have a mantel, you can always mount the door directly onto any wall for the same effect.
