Bamboo Orb Pendant Lights from Roman Shade

Monica from Crafty Nest created her own set of orb pendant lights from an unlikely source – inexpensive bamboo roman shades. Monica says, “The bamboo is surprisingly sturdy and bendable—and you can easily cut it with scissors—making it an ideal lightweight frame for paper lanterns or this orb lampshade.” I love that outside-the-box thinking! Monica simply cut, glued, and clamped away and assures that the most time consuming part is waiting for the glue to dry!

Faux Wall Molding–Get the Look without the Cuts!

While making over her guest bedroom and office space, Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof knew the walls needed something more. Instead of spending money on expensive moldings and having to make lots of cuts, Jenna created faux moldings with FrogTape and paint. Plain old rectangles weren’t going to cut it for a fun and funky girl like Jenna, so she added a little flair to the corners with scalloped tape. Is there anything you can’t do with paint???

Pretty in Pink Polka Dot Painted Dish

Heather of Setting for Four loves decorating her house with beautiful bowls and plates. Throw in Kate Spade’s “sophisticated yet playful” style, and Heather’s totally smitten! Heather replicated the look of Kate’s Confetti Collection on a plain white bowl using reinforcement stickers and nail polish. The stickers made for perfect circles with zero fuss. While this lovely dish can definitely be year-round, Heather points out that the touch of pink is also perfect for celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Whimsical Paper Flower Wall Décor

Mary Kathryn from Mathews Family Happenings was smitten by the wallflowers she had seen on several blogs. She had even come close to buying them a few times but knew she could create them for less. And that she did! Mary Kathryn cut all the little flower shapes from poster board, curled the petals, and then attached them to the wall with putty. They look lovely in her daughter’s nursery and add the perfect touch of whimsy.

Glitter Heart Valentine’s Pillow

How about going glam this Valentine’s Day with sparkly metallics and golden glitter? Rinchen De from High on DIY made this glitzy heart pillow using super fine glitter and Mod Podge. I love the sprinkled effect – like the heart is bursting with love! I can’t think of a better way to take a plain pillow cover from drab to fab!
