Kilim-Inspired DIY Wall Art

Liz from Life in Projects loved a handwoven wool rug from West Elm. However, she says at $799 there was no way the rug would be making a debut in her home. That didn’t mean Liz couldn’t still incorporate the look into her space! Liz turned the design from the rug into wall art by simply “stamping” a drop cloth with the end of a piece of wood. I love how such a simple pattern can make such a impact!

Easter Egg Ribbon Dish Towel

Katie from Addicted 2 DIY loved the ribbon heart dish towels Anthropologie had for Valentine’s Day but missed the boat on making one in time. Why not make a ribbon Easter egg dishtowel instead?!? Katie already had the flour sack towel, and Target helped out with some pretty spring ribbon from the dollar spot. This is such a cute way to bring a little Easter décor to your kitchen!

Painted Wood Patterned Coasters

Abby at Just a Girl and Her Blog recently came upon some colorful coasters at Anthropologie that she absolutely loved and immediately thought, “I can make those!” With some plywood, washi tape, and a little bit of paint, Abby easily created her own coasters that are really similar to the original– and they were free since she had the supplies on hand. I love when even a coaster can add some serious style to your space!

“If You Can Trace It, You Can Make It” Owl Pillow

Lindsay from My Crafty Spot loved the idea of creating pillows that mimic the look of framed art. She found a way to make her own for less than $10 using a paint marker and a steady hand. Lindsay says, “The real beauty of this is that ANYONE can do it! You might have to find your image online, but creating it is as easy as tracing letters in kindergarten, and saving $90 isn’t too awful either.”

Black and White Abstract Art Anyone Can Paint

Aubrey of The Crawford Clan had originally planned to put a mirror above the buffet in her dining room but then decided a piece of artwork would “pack a bigger punch.” Not only did Aubrey paint her own abstract art, but she made this project even cheaper by creating her own canvas from a drop cloth she already had. Aubrey is certainly a frugal girl after my own heart! She says, “I’m hardly an artist so this was the perfect skill level for me.  Surprisingly, we’ve had a few visitors even ask where we purchased it from…”
