Liz from Hoosier Homemade had been dreaming and waiting for a rustic PB-style office desk for three long years. That dream finally came to fruition when she spotted some barn doors with a free sign sitting on the side of the road. Liz’s husband built custom cabinets and then cut the barn doors to fit on top. With a love for all things Restoration Hardware, Kenz of Interiors By Kenz turned to their antique maps as inspiration for her own piece of map art. Kenz created her large map by printing it on multiple sheets of paper and then adhering the parts to a piece of plywood. She finished up by plucking some wood from her fence to use for the frame. (I’m loving that resourcefulness!) Would you believe this amazing piece of framed map art cost Kenz nothing… nada… the big goose egg???
Tricia from Simplicity in the South wanted to replace the bare bulb in the ceiling of her son’s closet-turned-workspace. She was inspired by a caged pendant light that appealed to her vintage style and was able to replicate the look with supplies she ordered online. Tricia’s knockoff is the spitting image of her RH inspiration and cost only a third of the price!
Jen from The House of Wood is at it again with another fabulous furniture build. Equipped with Ana White’s step-by-step, easy-to-read plans, Jen built her “perfect end table” in 45 minutes. No joke! Jen says, “If you’re timid about building furniture from scratch, this is the perfect starter project for you!”
With a needle and yarn, you can give a whole new personality to a plain old bathmat. Kinsey at Sincerely, Kinsey came up with this great idea for creating her own rug with Southwestern flair when she fell for a pricey desert mat from Anthropologie. Kinsey first created a template with chalk on the back of her rug and then stitched away. Just think of all the design possibilities!
