Jessica found a way around the expense of purchasing pricey hardware by using jewelry beads on her faux drawer fronts. Fifty cents a knob is a major saving when compared to Jessica’s Anthropologie inspiration that comes in at $8 a pop! And aren’t they just as pretty?
Virginia from LiveLoveDIY is a super frugal gal who loves thrift store excursions. On one of her trips, she came across a little, outdated wooden desk for $20. It reminded Virginia of a gorgeous $2000 vanity she’d just seen at Crate &Barrel. Virginia knew just what to do and transformed the piece with some high gloss black paint and a sleek chrome handle.
I am simply loving my new painted curtains and am not the only one who has had success with this money-saving option. Eleni from Fields of Basil wanted cheerful curtains with a splash of color and found them, but of course they came at a steep price. Instead, Eleni stenciled her own. I love the pattern she created!
Using items from your recycling bin, you can turn a plain old cardboard box into a decorative storage bin like Gay from It’s A Hodgepodge Life did. Gay rolled a bunch of magazine pages and attached them to her box and then created a no-sew burlap liner to make the inside as beautiful as the outside. The leaves are in full color changing mode here, making me even more grateful for this time of year. Paula at Sweat Pea created some fall pillows that bring the look of those lovely leaves inside. Best of all, she used all items that she had on hand, so the pillows didn’t cost her a penny!
