Rope Bracelet

With Mother’s Day just over a week away, I’m kicking off a few days of fabulous Mother’s Day gift ideas – knock-off style, of course {wink}. First up, we have some pretty rope bracelets created by Kim from Made In A Day. I am in love with the chunky cording, bright colors, and little details that Kim included in all her bracelets. With summer right around the corner, you can’t go wrong with these for Mom!

Sharpie Art Plate Wall

Sarah from While They Snooze takes DIY wall art to a whole new level with this plate wall she created using dollar store plates and a Sharpie. This amazing project earned Sarah a well-deserved spot in the top 3 of the Creating with the Star’s knock-off round at East Coast Creative. The secret to Sarah’s beautiful artistry is in using a projector to trace the image onto the plates. With the handy tool, there is no limit to what you draw on your plates and still get stunning results!

Sweater Covered Lampshade

With the transition from winter to spring comes the task of packing away sweaters and pulling out tees and tanks. Before you write off those old sweaters, check out how Beth at Unskinny Boppy made over a plan white lampshade with a thrift store sweater. I love the idea of adding pattern and texture to a lampshade with a few simple cuts and some glue. It’s amazing the changes you can make it a mere 20 minutes!

Pipe and Wood Lamp

Janel from Nellie Bellie really blew me away with this unique lamp she created from pipes, wood spindles, and, of course, time and patience. Not only does it look amazingly like the inspiration, but the price difference is quite astounding ($86 versus $2,800). You can barely buy a lamp and shade from Target for the cost of Janel’s eye-catcher. Talk about making a statement!

Chrysanthemum Painted Vase

Anthropologie’s colorful flower vases have caught the eyes of many DIYers. I have seen vases embellished with jewelry to achieve the same look, but this is first time I’ve seen a paper flower that’s just as pretty as the inspiration! Melissa of The Happier Homemaker shows how simple it is to make the chrysanthemum with just some snipping and rolling. Attached to her painted dollar store vase, it’s the perfect focal point for spring!
