Jaime from That’s My Letter recently moved into a truly vintage home, a circa 1740 saltbox style farmhouse to be exact. Talk about a project playground! When faced with the expense of needing to replace ALL of the interior light fixtures, Jaime came up with a more budget-friendly version of the trendy Edison bulb sconces for her pool room. The style is the perfect addition to an old home with so much history and character.
I am not the only one to recently jump on the starburst mirror bandwagon. Debbie from One Day at a Time also recognized the popularity of these mirrors and wanted to get in on the fun. Debbie combined elements from a couple of her faves from Crate& Barrel to come up with a unique design that would work in her “1951 post-war cape cottage.” Debbie’s bronze-and-gold beauty was created using floral stakes, glue, and an octagon mirror for even more “50’s flair.”

Today we are going to go a little starburst mirror crazy with two different DIY versions. The first comes from yours truly! I really love the classic look of these mirrors and decided to join the ranks of DIYers who have made their own. However, like I share at Infarrantly Creative, I think I’m the only crazy person who sanded and stained 150 shims to get the job done! Yikes! Trust me when I say that the end result totally makes it worth it though!
Michelle from Chalkboard Blue built this cubby system inspired by a hotel front desk organizer that is perfect for storage and display. The original inspiration came from a cubby organizer from Pottery Barn, but Michelle put her own spin on the design. This is so cute for the holidays. I love how Michelle used the cubbies as an advent this past Christmas!
Jeannine of The Concrete Cottage had a plain Target lamp shade lying around and decided to add a little pizzazz to it with some French script images and a fin tip Sharpie. The end product however, turned out to be a pretty close knock off to a Pottery Barn shade… who knew! Jeannine’s lampshade looks so amazing that it’s hard to believe it’s actually a very simply process!
