Paper Chandelier for a Baby Nursery

Sara from Embrace My Space put a playful twist on the “effortless and elegant” shape of West Elm’s Capiz Shell Chandelier for her baby’s nursery. Sara started with a hanging plant basket, spray painted it white, and then added ribbons with colorful paper circles that she punched from cardstock. As Sara points out, “you could use this method for creating something sleek and chic for any room in your home.  Just swap out the colors and even the type of cardstock and you’ll have a neat faux chandelier that you can use to fancy up a boring corner of your space.”

Industrial Pipe Curtain Rod

If you don’t follow me on Infarrantly Creative, then let me say that you’ve been missing out! I recently participated in a 30-day room makeover in which I transformed my son’s bedroom into an eclectic yet personal space. To carry the industrial vibe from his new DIY hanging wood and pipe bed to the windows, I created a curtain rod from pipes for only $20. As an added bonus, the friendly folks at Lowes even cut the pipe for me making this a pretty simple project. It really adds to the space, and, in my opinion, is waaay cooler than your run-of-the-mill curtain rod.

Turn a Boring Chandy into a Stylish Orb Chandelier

Were you blown away by the beautiful orb chandelier I shared from Jen at Tatertots and Jello this morning? As promised, tonight Shelley from House of Smith’s stunning light fixture is in the spotlight. Starting with a store-bought chandy, Shelley created the orb effect with fencing wire and gave it a fresh finish with white paint. I love what Shelley has to say about her new entryway light… “She’s definitely large and in charge, but that’s what I LOVE about her! She adds some more drama to the space, and almost acts as an art piece as well as a light fixture!”

Metallic Gold Orb Chandelier

Bloggy buddies Jen from Tatertots and Jello and Shelley from House of Smiths were in agreement that they both wanted to add orb chandeliers to their homes… and that they didn’t want to spend hundreds and even thousands on a store-bought fixture. What are creative, resourceful gals to do? Make their own of course! The lovely ladies collaborated on the materials and basic construction but then put their own unique spins on the chandies. Jen created a larger chandelier with a glamorous metallic gold finish. Talk about fabulous!

Fork and Spoon Kitchen Wall Art

Anita from Inspired Passions loves all things Pottery Barn and says she would move into the store if possible! She loved their fork and spoon canvases, but sadly they were out of budget and too big for her tiny kitchen. Anita created a more appropriately sized (and priced!) version with a canvas, carbon paper, and a black pastel. Anita says, “I had a lot of fun doing this project, and it looks really cute in the kitchen!”
