There is no doubt that Joan of Nicer Than New is drawn to pedestal tables. She bought not one but EIGHT at an estate sale. Two of them were from the Bombay company, sporting their signature dark mahogany finish… that was peeling, bubbling, and definitely in need of sprucing up. While drooling over the goodies offered at Joss and Main, Joan spotted an aluminum pedestal table, and the light bulb went off. She happened to have some aluminum colored paint leftover from another project and used it to give these two tables a new life of glamour!

Holly, one of the crafty gals behind My Sister’s Suitcase and a contributor at Tatertots & Jello, is quick to admit that she has “West Elm taste on a thrift store budget.” It was their wood tile furniture that flipped Holly’s DIY switch and motivated her on to update her current dresser with wood shims. The shims facilitated the project, allowing Holly to work with only limited tools and avoid cutting a bunch of wood. Lindsay from My Crafty Spot loved the idea of creating pillows that mimic the look of framed art. She found a way to make her own for less than $10 using a paint marker and a steady hand. Lindsay says, “The real beauty of this is that ANYONE can do it! You might have to find your image online, but creating it is as easy as tracing letters in kindergarten, and saving $90 isn’t too awful either.”

Do you love flowers and greenery but have a black thumb? Morena from Morena’s Corner created a lovely floral wall cone to help usher spring into her home – and guess what? It requires no watering thanks to the use of a Styrofoam cone and faux flowers. The Styrofoam makes for a super lightweight “planter” that’s simple to hang on the wall. You get the look of fresh flowers for spring without the upkeep!

Chalkboard paint and maps have been popular in the DIY world for awhile now and are still going strong. Becca at From Gardner 2 Bergers merged these two popular trends to create a rolling chalkboard map for her guest bedroom. Wondering how Becca pulled off the rolling part of the map? Easy! She painted a rolling window shade with chalkboard paint and then drew the map right on. The cool part is that the map also doubles as a blackout shade on the window!
