She decided to recreate some pretty candle holders from West Elm using a fun painting technique with food coloring. While Ashley’s inspiration was only $6, she was still about to beat it using all items she had around the house, making her candle holders freebies!
Lora from Craftivity Designs has always loved a striped runner and was dreaming of one for her office. The Birmingham Black Woven Cotton Rug from Dash and Albert is one of her favorites, but $133 was more than Lora wanted to spend. On a trip to IKEA, she spotted the Soften Rug which had dark gray and white strips just like her inspiration rug. One rug was too small, so Lora picked up two and stitched them together with some fishing line. Now Lora has that 10-foot-long striped runner she was dreaming about for only $50!
Amy from Joyful Daisy just loves MacKenzie Childs’ whimsical furniture and home accents; however, many of the prices are deal breakers! This trash-to-treasure magnet board with magnets only cost Amy $10 for the tack and duck tape. Everything else she had on hand, including the old baking sheet that makes the board magnetic. Shayna of The Wood Grain Cottage loves one-of-a-kind lighting and wanted to create a fixture from an old grain sieve. The problem was all the vintage sieves she found were either way to expensive or too big. Knock-off time! Shayna shares at Infarrantly Creative how she made her own wooden sieve using basswood and wire and turned it into a light with a pendant kit… all for only $20. Shayna says it’s the perfect touch to her newly-designed mudroom!
Kelly from View Along the Way recently built jewelry drawers inside her closet, complete with velvet lining upcycled from a thrift store dress. The only thing Kelly’s new drawers were lacking was knobs and not just any knobs – knobs with bling! Kelly found Precious Stone Knobs from Anthropologie that offered tons of sparkle… for $128 PER knob. Instead Kelly added screws to pieces of pyrite and had her own “precious” knobs for waaay less!
