Lacy from A Decorating Diva’s Diary faced quite the challenge to find lighting that would work with her home’s very high ceilings and open floor plan. She created a fixture with the luminous look of capiz shells and large scale she needed using an unlikely material – wax paper! Isn’t it amazing how totally glam and expensive it looks!?!
I am loving this easy vase update shared by Angie of The Country Chic Cottage. It’s not like my hubby is constantly bringing me vases of flowers, but I somehow always seem to have plenty of them hiding in my cabinets. Angie busted out the Krylon on her vase and then used a dimensional writer to create a very cool honeycomb pattern for instant style.
The Mombot Amy has found some thrifty treasures in Target’s dollar spot, including a small wooden tray that bore a strong resemblance to one she’d been eyeing from West Elm. She snatched one up and added a coordinating paper to the interior for a fun punch of pizzazz. So cheap… so simple… and so cute!
Aimee from It’s Overflowing shows it is possible to create a knock-off pillow without a needle and thread. Aimee let her Silhouette Cameo do almost all the work for this project! All she had to do was iron the perfectly cut deer head onto a ready-made pillow she snagged on clearance at Target. As Aimee asks, “how can something that simple be that cute!?!”
Lauren from The Endearing Home almost purchased a beautiful antique silver frame from West Elm. Almost… before she realized she had several old frames in her garage that could easily be refabbed. Lauren applied Rub ‘n Buff to one of the frames for an aged silver finish and also created a linen matting using an old curtain panel. I am loving how Lauren totally nailed the look with items she already had! Yay for not one but TWO great upcycles!
