Chair Makeover with Swirl Design

Mel from Junkin’ Junky found a set of four chairs at Goodwill for only $5 a piece. While the price was awesome, the chairs… not so much. Mel describes them as boring with a brown finish that scratched easily. She was inspired to update the color to a pretty blue and then add pizzazz with a vinyl swirl design. Talk about a transformation from brown and boring to blue and bold!

DIY Pintuck Duvet Cover from Sheets

Kelly from View Along the Way joined up with a group of friends to do a surprise room makeover for friend. The ladies had to get creative in order to stretch their limited budget and sure didn’t have money for fancy bedding. Therefore, Kelly decided to try her hand at creating a textural pintucked duvet cover from sheets. Kelly’s DIY duvet cover cost only $23, which is pretty stinkin’ awesome, but she also shares a few ideas for whittling down the price even more.

Turn a Basket into Art with a Sharpie

Christine from Let’s Get Crafty really liked the “texture and simple design” of West Elm’s Decorative Bowl Art. She took a trip to her local Goodwill (where there are baskets aplenty) and snagged one for less than $2 to turn into her own piece of wall art. Christine says that the weave of her basket is a “dead ringer” for her inspiration, and all she needed was a black Sharpie to complete the transformation!

Upholstered Bench with Nailhead Trim

Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home inherited her great-grandfather’s love for  building things with her hands and is now following in his footsteps as an upholsterer. This bench was Jennifer’s first time creating an upholstered piece of furniture, and I’d say it’s evidence that she definitely has a knack for the trade. If you’re wondering about the time commitment that goes into building your own bench AND upholstering it, Jennifer reassures that the whole project took her only five to six hours to complete.

DIY Tree Stump Tables

Merril, the Girl of a Thousand Dreams, loves the organic, natural look of tree stump tables but not the price. Individual tables can go for hundreds of dollars. Merril had to have them though! After finding some free tree stumps in good condition, the process was very simple. The bark was removed and the stumps were sanded and finished with four coats of polyurethane. The results are much better than Merril could have imagined, and her wallet is much happier!
