Industrial Pipe Curtain Rods

Jen and Brian from Something We Whipped Up both loved the “simply yet sturdy look” of West Elm’s industrial curtain rods. Unfortunately, at $99 a piece, there was no way they were buying two! A quick trip to the hardware store, and Jen and Brian had everything they needed to make their own pipe curtain rods for less than a quarter the price. Most stores will cut and rethread the pipe for you, so basically all you have to do is connect the pieces and voila!

Metallic Polka Dot Sharpie Art Mugs

Daniela from Put A Bird On It is all about creating lovely, “Pinterest-worthy” décor on a dime. She also happens to be a sucker for polka dots, so it’s no wonder metallic confetti mugs from West Elm caught her eye. Daniela shares how she made her own decorative mugs with Sharpies. She even took it a step further to customize a mug with her “phrase” for 2014 – Choose Happy.

Scrap Fabric Patchwork Wall Art

Zoica, one of the crafty gals at Two Creative Women, shares a fairly simple project for turning fabric scraps into works of art. All it requires is a few rectangles of fabric and a little sewing. Of course, this is perfect for those last little bits of fabric you’ve been saving, or it could also be a fun way to give sentimental pieces like baby bedding new life.

Faux Capiz Shell Chandelier from Wax Paper

Would you believe this gorgeous chandelier is made out of just wax paper??? Yep, that’s right – wax paper! Jenn from A Home in the Making used an old lamp shade from Goodwill as the structure for her chandy and then attached strings of wax paper circles. While cutting and sewing 2,640 circles may seem crazy tedious and time consuming, Jenn guarantees this is not a hard project and will save you a pretty penny from costly capiz shell pendants. Jen says, “If you love this light, the cost alone is worth it.”

DIY Wood-Tiled Nightstands

Monica and Jess of East Coast Creative were inspired by one of the amazing projects in their Creating with the Stars competition last March to transform an unfinished wood nightstand from IKEA into a truly unique and eye-catching piece. The crafty gals cut and stained wood pieces in varying shades to have the look of pricey tile and then glued them to the drawer fronts. Thanks to IKEA’s $35 nightstands, it cost less than $100 for the PAIR of stylin’ nightstands.
