Decorative Mirror with Scalloped Border

This summer Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating devoted a month to making over a tiny bathroom in her condo. One of her DIY projects for the space was creating a decorative mirror with a pretty scalloped border for above the vanity. Kristi actually cut that pretty scalloped border from a piece of MDF she had on hand going at a snail’s pace with her jigsaw. Kristi’s final cost for the mirror was only $25, and she says even if you had to purchase the MDF it would be “a far cry from $334!!”

Shabby Chic Roadside Rescue Chair

Kat from Basil and Chaise shares the steps to achieving that shabby chic look yourself without spending big bucks. Kat was fortunate to find a set of solid wood ladder back chairs on the side of the road that were tired and in need of a makeover. She decided to give one of her new chairs a heavily distressed look with white paint, a paint scraper, and sandpaper. Fresh fabric finished off the chair and gave it a second chance to shine!

Rustic Wood Chalkboard Sign

While rummaging through her scrap wood pile, Shawna from Dakota Creek Chic found a piece of wood she had previously tested with a gray wash stain. She immediately knew it would be perfect for turning into a chalkboard sign like one she’d spied online. This project was the best kind for Shawna – absolutely free! She says, “This could be useful in so many ways, messages to the mailman, asking guests to use a different door. The possibilities are endless!”

Painted Buffet with a “Good Old Fashioned Wash”

As soon as Sue from Gracefully Restored Furniture saw this mid-century modern buffet, she knew it was “crying out for a good old fashioned wash.” She took her first stab at the process by painting the buffet with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey, creating a wash with Graphite, and topping it off with some clear and dark wax. With a little distressing, it was finished!
