Burlap Window Panels

11:00 AM By Beckie

I know I am not alone in saying that I love burlap and it’s price.

The fact that I can get it for a couple of dollars a yard with a coupon makes me wonder why stores like Ballard are charging around $200 for one burlap panel.

Sheesh! Alicia from Thrifty and Chic shows that you don’t have to pay those outrageous prices, not when you can make your own burlap curtains for $12, and that’s for two panels!

Alicia was inspired by the Burlap Crewel Damask Panel from Ballard Designs.

Your burlap curtains look great! I change out my living room curtains seasonally. They’re 120″ curtains and they frame the French doors leading to my deck. In 2015, I made the most wonderful burlap curtains for fall! I realized the same thing you did – it would be insane to pay the prices that are being demanded for these when I can make them myself. I had the most fabulous 8″ heavy jute fringe trim I had found at Tuesday Morning a few years ago, just waiting for something like these curtains. So I bought a ton of gold-shot burlap at Hobby Lobby using the 40% off coupon and started sewing. They’re well constructed with interfacing to stiffen the top and sewn selvages and hems. The total cost for these, including the trim, was under $30! I sneezed about a million times while sewing them from all the burlap fibers, but it was worth it! Wish I could show you a photo or two!
