After devoting some serious thought to her front door’s Christmas getup, Jaime from That’s My Letter landed on a cute little wood sign from Pottery Barn Kids. The sign wasn’t for sale; however, that’s hardly a problem when you are a sign making master like Jaime {wink}. She totally one upped Pottery Barn Kids by combining her sign with evergreens and burlap for this lovely Christmas creation!
This advent calendar created by Rach at Family Ever After totally knocks my socks off! I can only imagine the time that went into all the detail of cutting and stitching each adorable little felt pocket, but isn’t the end result amazing?!? I can definitely see this becoming a treasured Christmas family heirloom!
Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic added a set of bookcases to the list of furniture items she has constructed for her daughters’ shared bedroom. Whitney followed plans by Ana White but built on the functionality by creating a cubby storage space on the bottom. The simple addition of the boards will keep toys contained on the shelves and is cheaper and easier than hunting down baskets that fit perfectly.

Kathy at Miss Grace Filled Life shares an easy idea that you could make today with a quick trip to the store. Kathy created a pilgrim ship from a wooden bowl complete with billowing poster board sails. How cute is this?
I love this sweet idea from Jamie at C.R.A.F.T. to create a Christmas tree with a family theme. Of course, a family-themed tree necessitates family photos, and Jamie and her mom whipped up a passel of glittery photo ornaments for only nine cents a piece. How’s that for budget friendly?!?
Not wanting to be left out of the Halloween decorating fun in her neighborhood, Lorraine from South Meets Southwest whipped up a few spooky signs to welcome trick-or-treaters to her house. Lorraine saved money by using wood from Home Depot’s scrap pile and paint she already had, making the grand total for all three signs $1.50! Lorraine says, “We might be the last house on our block to decorate for Halloween, but I am just glad I finished these signs before the first trick-or-treater arrived!”
Trina from A Few Miner Adjustments turned a piece of luan from her garage into an oversized flashcard for her living room wall. All it took was some paint and vinyl to create this décor that was ideal for a household of teachers. I love this idea for a playroom too and think a set of flashcards would be a great way to decorate a large wall on a dime.
Less than $20 for a wooden Halloween sign from Pottery Barn Kids may not seem so bad. However, if you consider buying two or three signs to display together, the dollars start adding up. And if you consider that you could make the signs for free like Amie from Pinkapotamus, well, that seems like a no-brainer! All Amie needed was some scrap pallet wood from her stash and paint to deck out her porch with a trio of festive signs.
