Rustic Wood Star Cutout Sign

Stacy from Not Just a Housewife recently had a momentous event occur in her creative blogging career – her very first knock-off! Woot woot! Her inspiration was a cutout star sign from Pottery Barn. Stacy went for a bit more rustic look, but, all in all, her sign is a dead ringer for PB’s. I sure hope this will be the first of many knock-offs for Stacy!

Personalized Transportation Wall Art

Abby from Just a Girl and Her Blog is currently giving her boys’ room a makeover, and they needed art! Abby says she’s too cheap to buy “real” art and knows she can get exactly what she wants through DIY. Abby found a Land of Nod piece that provided awesome inspiration and made her own with basically a stack of scrapbook paper and scissors. I love what Abby says about creating this artwork for her boys: “One of the reasons I love projects like this, though, is that even though it’s not perfect, I was able to give my boys a fun, unique piece of art for their room that they will always know was a gift to them from mommy. There’s something really satisfying about putting your own personal touch on a space, especially when it’s for someone you love!” SO true!!!

A DIY Mirror Born from Brilliance

I just love KariAnne from Thistlewood Farms, and if you aren’t already, I promise you will be hooked on her site after seeing this brilliant project! KariAnne had been saving up her pennies, 24,800 of them to be exact, to purchase a fancy schmancy mirror from Anthropologie. Fortunately, KariAnne realized she could save almost all those pennies by creating her own DIY version of that mirror on the cheap. You will never guess how she pulled it off – compact mirrors! And from the dollar store no less!

Old Frame to Fabric Message Board

When Shauna from Satori Design Living was challenged to turn her home office into a better organized, more functional, and prettier space, she knew a pinboard was a must. Shauna had been wanting a fabric-covered one for years, and it was high time she finally made that dream a reality. Shauna did it on the cheap by repurposing an old art frame she had. With a fresh coat of white paint, touch of gold gilding, and cotton canvas insert, the frame-turned-memo board looks sophisticated and a little glam!

Wood Framed Flatware Kitchen Art

Nick from Lifestyles of the Rich and the Davis’ was happy to oblige when his wife requested a trio of flatware canvases for their dining area. With the help of Photoshop, Nick created his own stencils and painted the spoon, knife, on fork onto the canvases. Now, many would of stopped there, but Nick wasn’t done yet! He then turned the “disjointed set of silverware” into a statement piece by building a wood frame. I love how it brings the whole piece together!
