Easy Pom-Pom Tassel Pillow

Melissa from The Inspired Room isn’t ashamed to admit that she’s got a major crush on all things Anthropologie! When she saw a fun pom-pom pillow there, Melissa knew she wanted one AND that she could make it for less. Melissa just used a pillow cover she already had and stitched on some pom-pom trim. Super simple and super cute!

Decorative Gold Spheres from Clay

Decorative spheres are a fun way to add interest to a bookshelf or tabletop. Shelley from Crazy Wonderful saw some from West Elm that she thought were pretty stinkin’ cool – just not at $70 for a pair! Shelley instead sculpted her own from clay and finished them in gold  just like her inspiration. I love how metallic spray paint can give an inexpensive material like clay such a beautiful, lustrous finish. You’d never know they aren’t real metal!

Appliqued Deer Silhouette Pillow

Jessica from Sew Homegrown created this deer head silhouette pillow to add a little festivity to her couch. Jessica’s hubs drew a pattern (that has kindly been made available to Jessica’s readers), which Jessica traced and cut from a colorful, textured fabric. She then used a dense zigzag stitch to sew the deer to the front square of the pillow. Like Jessica, I love that this pillow is seasonal without being too Christmas-y, so you don’t have to pack it up with the rest of your Christmas decorations.

DIY Herringbone Floor Mirror

Justin and Kayla from Home Coming are DIY and home bloggers with a lot of love for updating a house on a budget. Combine Justin’s handiness with Kayla’s creativity, and you’ve got a DIY team made in heaven! The couple has been updating their 1920’s Minneapolis house, and their latest project is this oversized floor mirror. Kayla fell in love with the West Elm version, but at $540, it wasn’t in their budget. But with $36 (and 13 hours), Justin and Kayla created their own beautiful rendition!

Thanksgiving Boat Place Holders

Here’s a really cute Thanksgiving idea from Ashley at Simply Designing. With just a bit of felt and a little hand-stitching, she made these little pilgrim boats filled with candy. Wouldn’t these make darling place holders at the “kid’s table?” You could also fill them with small gourds or pinecones if the candy might prevent your little ones from “gobbling” up their turkey.
