Faux Fur Stool for a Teen Retreat

Last summer Therese from Fresh Idea Studio got to spend quality DIY time with her oldest daughter updating her bedroom. One of the things her then soon-to-be high schooler wanted in the space was a beautiful Mongolian lamb fur stool like Jonathan Adler’s $1,595.00 one. Yikes! Of course, Therese worked her magic to make a similar vanity stool for less than $50 using supplies from IKEA.

Zebra Jewelry Dish and Catchall

Amanda from A Hammer & Heals almost wrote this zebra jewelry dish off as a DIY fail. However, after taking a little breather from the project, Amanda came back with a clear head and completed her playful catchall for only a fourth of the designer price. Like Amanda says, the fun of DIY is being able to customize the project to your liking, and I love how she put her own spin on it with the gold and turquoise color scheme!

Build and Upholster Your Own Bed

A couple of years ago Kelly from A View Along the Way and her husband built and upholstered an entire bed for their master bedroom. Yep, the whole bed – headboard, frame, platform, and all!
