Susan from Homeroad created her own wall organization system from weathered driftwood and old metal calendars. One calendar became a chalkboard and the other a chicken wire clipboard. I love the rustic look Susan achieved with her repurposed materials, and the wire hooks that link them together are too cute!
We have seen projects aplenty for creating wooden wall signs, but how about giving metal a try? Morena from Morena’s Corner shares at Crafts Unleashed how she was inspired to make a couple of pieces of metal wall art from inexpensive rusted metal sheets. Since moving into her home, Ashley from Shanty 2 Chic has been haunted by an awkward empty space above her fridge that needed something. While the lack of cabinets might have left most people with underutilized wall space, Ashley exercised her DIY prowess and built a cubby shelf with plans by Ana White. Kitchen, bathroom, playroom, crafting space… I cannot think of a room that couldn’t use a shelf like this!
Like Rhiannon from Being Mom{me}, you probably don’t want to drop $80 for a piece of wall art, especially when your style might change next month, and even more especially when you can make it yourself for nothing! Rhiannon simply designed her own eye chart art on her computer, printed it out at home, and placed it in a frame she already had. Done! I love this saying and agree with one of Rhiannon’s readers that it would make an adorable wedding gift!
Gail from Purple Hues and Me was inspired by Anthropologie’s unique candlesticks made from found items to create one of her own. What makes Gail’s candlestick so special is that she was able to repurpose her own sentimental trinkets and treasures. I think this is such a creative way to display items that have been passed down from family or doodads from when you were a kid and don’t know what to do with now. With Halloween around the corner, I can also see a very cool candlestick made with skulls, ghosts, and other creepy finds.
