Reupholstered Rocker with Gray Wash Finish

I just love this project from Ahna at Easier Than I Thought because it’s a true example of seeing potential and beauty where others see trash. Ahna took an ugly (and I mean UGLY) old rocker and turned it into a thing of beauty. Literally, it looks like it could be sitting right in Restoration Hardware’s catalog with its nailhead trim, gray-washed finish, and textural linen-like fabric. You’ve got to head over to Ahna’s site to appreciate this miraculous chair makeover and learn how you too can achieve that gorgeous look!

DIY Document Art in Minutes

Allison from The Golden Sycamore included a piece of DIY document art in her fall “mantel” this year that she says cost pennies to create compared to the cost of her inspiration. Allison simply found a French document image from The Graphics Fairy, printed it out, and placed it in an updated Goodwill frame. How easy is that???

Painted Dot Party Glasses

Your typical drinking glass may be functional, but it’s definitely not fun. Kelsey from P.S. Heart shows just how simple it is to transform those boring old glasses into festive and fun glasses. Kelsey says that glass paints worked like a dream. All she had to do was dot away, allowing each color to dry in between application. Now Kelsey has a new set of “party cups” that are perfect for her next get-together.

Leaf and Acorn Applique Pillow Cover

MJ from 517 Creations spied a lovely autumn pillow with a large, brightly colored leaf and acorns gracing the front. Since the almost $100 price tag completely obliterated any idea of actually purchasing the pillow, MJ simply made her own. MJ stitched a vein detail onto the leaf and then used Heat N’ Bond to attach it to the pillow fabric. She finished it off by stitching around the edges for a lovely fall applique.

Painted Wooden Halloween Signs

Not wanting to be left out of the Halloween decorating fun in her neighborhood, Lorraine from South Meets Southwest whipped up a few spooky signs to welcome trick-or-treaters to her house. Lorraine saved money by using wood from Home Depot’s scrap pile and paint she already had, making the grand total for all three signs $1.50! Lorraine says, “We might be the last house on our block to decorate for Halloween, but I am just glad I finished these signs before the first trick-or-treater arrived!”
