Reclaimed Wood and Metal Wall Shelves

Leslie of Loving What We Live was inspired by a friend’s beautiful Restoration Hardware reclaimed wood shelves to create some of her own. By DIYing the shelves, Leslie not only saved money but also was able to custom match the stain to other furniture in her home. The distressed wood shelves are now a great place to display family photos and other treasures.

Painted Stripe “Grain Sack” Pillows

For city girl Linda from It All Started with Paint, spare grain sacks are hard to come by. If at all. So Linda decided to take matters into her own hands and make her own faux grain sack pillows using drop cloth, fabric paint, and painter’s tape. I think the drop cloth offers the perfect texture for this project and love Linda’s pillows even more than Pottery Barn’s!

Weathered Wood Bathroom Vanity

When it came time for Nina from Everyday Enchanting to redo her powder room, Pottery Barn totally made her swoon with its Newport Sink Console. However, that pretty little console cost double the budget for the WHOLE renovation! Thankfully, Nina had the experience and confidence to tackle a DIY after building her own kitchen island. She says, “I combined and modified the plans from both Ana White and DIY Diva, and off we went! The beauty of building it ourselves was that I could choose a different stain than the original- so I gave it a weathered finish that we love!”
