Faux Antique Brass Decorative Thumbtacks

Morena of Morena’s Corner tried out a fun new product, Mod Melts, to recreate some fancy pushpins she had been eyeing from Ballard. It literally took Morena only 30 minutes from start to finish thanks to the simplicity of using a hot glue gun and the melt’s speedy drying time. Like Morena says, these pretty tacks definitely do not look like something you made with your hot glue gun. With a little gold and black paint, they resemble lovely antique pieces!

Café Shelves for a Long Wall

We all have that large, awkward wall in our homes that we just can’t figure out how to decorate. Lindsay from That Village House found the perfect solution for that wall in her kitchen in Ballard’s café shelves and was inspired to build her own. Lindsay says, “I’m really happy with how they turned out!! The total cost was about $47 for two shelves. Not bad when this look would have cost me $189 plus tax and shipping at Ballard.”

Decorative Pear (That Looks Good Enough to Eat!)

Elisha of Pneumatic Addict Furniture has admired Ballard’s Terra Cotta Pears for years, but it wasn’t until a recent craft store trip that she was inspired to make her own. Elisha combined a Styrofoam ball and cone to make her 13 inch pear form and then added texture and depth with tissue paper and paint. I think she did a great job giving it a realistic look!

Decorative Rope Spool

While looking through the Ballard catalog, Jen from Life, Crafts, & Whatever couldn’t help but notice the rope spool side table. However, the price and nautical vibe just weren’t agreeing with her budget and style. Jen instead created a Mini Me version using wood plaques and a paper mache cylinder. At seven inches tall, it looks super cute sitting outside Jen’s bedroom door!
