A DIY Mirror Born from Brilliance

I just love KariAnne from Thistlewood Farms, and if you aren’t already, I promise you will be hooked on her site after seeing this brilliant project! KariAnne had been saving up her pennies, 24,800 of them to be exact, to purchase a fancy schmancy mirror from Anthropologie. Fortunately, KariAnne realized she could save almost all those pennies by creating her own DIY version of that mirror on the cheap. You will never guess how she pulled it off – compact mirrors! And from the dollar store no less!

Thrifted Nut Bowl to Wood Slice Mirror

I know people often look at the things in thrift stores and garage sales and wonder what in the world it is and who would ever buy it. Like a nut bowl that looks like it was cut from a tree trunk. Where one person sees a strange, old nut bowl, a creative genius like Caitlin from the Desert Domicile sees an urban chic Anthropologie-inspired mirror. Caitlin took the $5 nut bowl and in just a few steps turned it into this amazing mirror that seriously gives the Anthro inspiration a run for its money. I love how Caitlin used one of her late grandmother’s Mexican woven belts so the mirror is not only stylin’ but meaningful.

Pom-Pom Fringe Pillow Cover

If you have got a couch, chair, or bed in need of a little pick-me-up, this pom-pom pillow from The Sassy Life is sure to infuse a bit of personality into the space! The sassy lady behind this pillow simply sewed layers of pom-pom fringe onto the front of her DIY pillow cover. If sewing isn’t your thing, she suggests trying a fusible bonding product or hot glue. I know this isn’t a holiday pillow, but there is something so festive about the pom-poms that I think it would be a great addition to holiday décor.

Turn a Log Into a Stacked Wood Slice Lamp

As soon as Jessica from Fit and Crafty saw a beautiful stacked base lamp on Pinterest, she was in love! Unfortunately, the link led her straight to a $600 price tag, which was much too pricey for her budget. That just meant a DIY was in order, which wasn’t a problem for Jessica who had tackled lamp sockets in the past. Jessica tracked down some free firewood on Craigslist, sliced up the logs, and turned them into a set of stylish lamps.

Festive Fall Tee-Pee Napkins

Michelle from Iron & Twine calls herself a “sucker for festive table linens” and found a way to make an inexpensive set of fall napkins that feature a teepee motif. All Michelle had to do was play around with her design until she found one she liked and then trace it onto her napkins with a fabric marker. She says, “This DIY is so easy ~ if you can draw a triangle, you can do this project!”
