Framed Art from Old Book Pages

Elizabeth of Broken Treasure was inspired by framed art from Pottery Barn featuring images on dictionary print to create her own as a gift for her son’s teacher. Elizabeth pasted together pages from an Early Childhood Education book she had and then stamped on an image of dandelion seeds blowing away. This technique offers great possibilities for repurposing old books into DIY wall art, and I love the idea of creating a grouping of framed images that hold personal meaning.

A Heart Wreath You Will “Love”

Jennifer from Decorated Chaos wanted to add wall décor to her freshly painted master bedroom and was inspired by all the boxwood wreaths she had seen to create her own. Luckily, Jennifer was able to pick up a heart-shaped twig wreath and two strands of greenery at the thrift store for a bargain. I love that Jennifer didn’t stop with the wreath but added her own spin by mounting it to a piece of bead board and stenciling the word love, making it perfect for a master suite!

Faux Antique Brass Decorative Thumbtacks

Morena of Morena’s Corner tried out a fun new product, Mod Melts, to recreate some fancy pushpins she had been eyeing from Ballard. It literally took Morena only 30 minutes from start to finish thanks to the simplicity of using a hot glue gun and the melt’s speedy drying time. Like Morena says, these pretty tacks definitely do not look like something you made with your hot glue gun. With a little gold and black paint, they resemble lovely antique pieces!

An Old Mirror Gets a New Makeover {Nautical Rope Mirror}

After trying to freshen up an old mirror with paint, Katie from Upcycled Treasures still felt it was missing a little something. It was then that Katie stumbled upon a couple of rope mirrors that inspired her to act on her love for nautical décor. Katie hot glued manila around the twice-painted mirror frame and then added thinner rope threads at the top to cover the pesky seam where the rope ends met. Funny that Katie’s unplanned addition of the rope at the top is actually my favorite part of the mirror!
