Thrift Store Find to Subway Sign Chalk Art

If you are one to frequently change out décor, you can’t beat chalk art. Jami from An Oregon Cottage found a piece of framed pressboard artwork from the thrift store and used paint to turn it into a chalkboard. She then used her tried-and-true chalk transfer method to draw a subway sign like those sold at Restoration Hardware. Before sporting this train sign, Jami’s chalkboard made an appearance in her Christmas gallery wall. And guess what? When she’s had her fill of the subway sign art, she can simply wipe it away and draw something new!

High-Arch Tufted Headboard with Nailhead Trim

Amber, a Knock Off Décor reader without a blog, really wanted a linen headboard for her new king-sized bed. While online prices were of course high, shipping to Canada added another monstrous expense. Amber and her husband decided instead to build their own headboard with deep tufts and nailhead trim and are sharing their steps right here on KOD! Without further ado, I’ll let Amber take it away with the how-to on how she made this beauty!

DIY Geometric Faceted Lamp Base

Sarah of Sarah M. Dorsey Designs always blows me away with her UH-mazing DIY projects and design skills. The girl is good! So good in fact that she and her husband David created their own set golden faceted lamp bases out of MDF… for only about $11 a piece. David has already figured out all those tricky angles, so the hard part is done. You can just get your MDF and cut and glue your way to DIY gorgeous geometric lamps!

Valentine’s Pillow with A Lot of Heart

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, the last thing you want to dish out hundreds of dollars for is décor. Especially considering it will only be out a couple of weeks! Dena from Hearts & Sharts was in shock when she came across a heart pillow with an outrageous price tag of $198. She literally dropped everything and made the pillow in under an hour just to show how easily (an inexpensively) it can be done!

Black and White Painted Herringbone Frame

Andrea from Decorating Cents was browsing around Pinterest when she came across a graphic black and white frame from West Elm. Unfortunately, Andrea found that the frame was no longer available. Bummer! However, Andrea knew she could just make her own and did just that with an unfinished wood frame from Michaels and paint. Her inexpensive knock-off frame sure packs a lot of punch! I love what a little paint can do!
