When it comes to finding just the right curtains, there are so many things to consider – sheer, semi-sheer, lined, unlined, 84”, 96”, 108”, patterned, solid, grommet, pole pocket… And sometimes finding just what you want can seem downright impossible! That’s when the possibility sewing your own custom curtains starts looking pretty good, and Carissa of Carissa Miss shows that it doesn’t have to break the bank! Carissa found curtains that she loved for her daughter’s nursery, but they fell short in many ways. By sewing her own curtains, Carissa was able to add the grommets and lining she wanted and get the perfect width and length for her space!
Rachael of Lovely Crafty Home was in the market for a new duvet cover and decided to test her newly improved sewing skills and make her own. Like Rachael says, “A duvet cover is just a giant pillow, right?” She combined together a drop cloth, a cheapo sheet, and fabric from Wal-mart to make her lovely ruffled duvet cover. While this was hardly a simple project, Rachael says, “All the hard work and getting stabbed by pins totally paid off.”
