Cheryl from Snaps of Ginger is the proud new owner of a Silhouette Cameo, and it sure didn’t take her long to realize what a wonder this machine is! One of her recent projects was creating these beautiful gold-tipped feathers. At first look, you’d never guess they are just plain old paper! With the metallic gold detailing Cheryl added with paint, they look totally glam.

She hadn’t a clue what she was going to do with them until inspiration struck while perusing the internet. There is not much that makes a statement in a room like a large graphic print rug. While designing her son’s big boy room, Aggie from Wool and Flax knew she wanted to incorporate a black and white herringbone rug into the space. She also knew she didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Aggie happened to have an old rug in the closet and thought, “Why not make my own herringbone rug!” Out came the paint and tape, and Addie ended up spending only $5 for the fabric medium!
Diane from In My Own Style has recently embarked on a revamp of her downstairs bathroom. While Diane doesn’t know exactly what her plans for the small space involve, she does know a vintage, yet modern and colorful light fixture is part of the equation. Diane got just the look she wanted with an inexpensive metal fixture from Lowes and a can of spray paint. She says, “I could not be happier with my DIY results, plus I got to paint the light exactly the color I envisioned.” Oh the wonders of spray paint!
While updating her family room, Jenna from SAS Interiors wanted to bring some darker tones into the space to contrast all the white elements. She already had a metal-framed coffee table with glass top and shelves and did a quick update by replacing the glass with wood planks for a more industrial look. Here’s from Jenna: “After having this coffee table for 10 years…, I’m thrilled that I was able to create a solution to continue using it instead of bringing in something new.”
