Old doors can become real treasures that add a rustic look to any room in your house. Rachel from Shadesofblueinteriors walks us through the steps to create a one-of-a-kind door.
The door she started with had several layers of paint, none of which suited the design of her home, so she removed the paint and then selected a palette that would complement her decor. She ended up mixing a total of 4 different paints and layering them to create the chipped vintage look she wanted.
Because a barn door doesn’t swing out and back like a typical door, a lot of usable floor space is saved. One of the most important parts of her tutorial is the information she presents as tips and tricks for installing a barn door. Rachel explains each step of the process of hanging the door, spelling out the pitfalls that can get in the way of a successful project you will be proud of.

Wow, that look so incredible and I love how it slides - you are so right about saving floor space, how ingenuous! I really want to give this a go in my future home as a door to an ensuite. Can't wait, thanks for the inspiration!
