Chrysanthemum Painted Vase

Anthropologie’s colorful flower vases have caught the eyes of many DIYers. I have seen vases embellished with jewelry to achieve the same look, but this is first time I’ve seen a paper flower that’s just as pretty as the inspiration! Melissa of The Happier Homemaker shows how simple it is to make the chrysanthemum with just some snipping and rolling. Attached to her painted dollar store vase, it’s the perfect focal point for spring!

I have said time and again how much I love the possibilities with stenciling, and Melissa from 5 Foot 12 Creations totally drives it home with her ikat console. I mean… wowzers! With a small paint brush and plate of craft paint in hand, Melissa completely transformed an IKEA console into a trendy piece of furniture that is sure to spark lots of conversations. It’s no wonder Melissa’s cabinet was one of the faves in the Creating with the Stars knockoff round!

Burlap and Ribbon Memo Board

ballard-inspired-burlap-memo-board.jpg

The little memo board above the desk of Gina from The Cannary Family was overflowing with pictures and other mementoes. Fortunately, Gina had a large bulletin board in her garage that was practically begging for a makeover. Gina gave it the Ballard treatment with burlap and upholstery tacks but then also added a French memo board twist by creating a design with ribbon. Gina’s new board doesn’t skimp on style or space!

No-Sew Pom Pom Quilt

pom-pom-quilt.jpg

Kelly from The Lily Pad Cottage is loving herself some pom poms right now. So when she saw the adorable Crinkle Puff Quilts at PB Teen, Kelly had to have one for her daughter’s room and knew she could easily fashion one herself. Kelly got to work making her own pom poms out of yarn and then attached them to a white quilt she already had. Kelly says, “This project is so easy and no-sew! I’m so happy with how it turned out.”

Hanging Lantern Light with Rope

Whether they are hanging from the ceiling or sitting tabletop, lanterns can be found everywhere in the décor world. But, of course, they come at a price, and a rather steep one at that! Nicole from DIY in Real Life found a way around those annoying price tags by updating secondhand brass light fixtures with black paint and rope. They ended up costing Nicole about $20 a piece, which is a steal compared to the fixtures she had been eyeing from Ballard and Restoration Hardware.

Amanda already had her sights set on recreating West Elm’s dresser and succeeded in bringing it to life with a flea market find and a pile of wood tiles. Behold its awesomeness….

Stenciled Burlap Lampshade

Traci from Beneath My Heart was flipping through her Pottery Barn Kids catalog when a burlap lampshade caught her eye. And… surprise! It wasn’t because it was exactly what she’d been looking for and knew she could make it for less. On the contrary, Traci had already created almost identical lampshades for her boys’ room three years prior! Pretty striking resemblance, eh? Traci can proudly say, “Pottery Barn copied me!” {Giggled}

Patterned Mercury Glass Vase

mercury-glass-vase7_createandbabble.jpg

After her daughter’s wedding, Jeanie from Create and Babble found herself with several clear glass vases on hand. She decided it was time she jumped on the mercury glass train and grabbed her can of Looking Glass spray paint. Now we’ve all seen this done a time or two, but I love how Jeanie took it a step further by creating a pattern on the glass with glue. You’ll have to pop over to her site to see exactly how she did it!
