Sawhorse Desk

We have been following along as Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic has built one fabulous piece of furniture after another for her son’s bedroom.

The most recent and final addition was Ana White’s 1×3 sawhorse desk that saves on space but doesn’t skimp on style.

Seriously, after this latest build, I think I am ready to move into that room myself. It’s just that awesome!

Tools Needed

If you are doing this work yourself, you will need a host of tools to pull this project off successfully:

  1. Drill
  2. Hammer
  3. Putty Knife
  4. Table Saw
  5. Portable Table Saw Stand
  6. Kreg Jig
  7. Stain (your choice of applicator)

The original inspiration came from the Sawhorse Trestle Desk from RH Baby & Child.

It’s amazing how replicating this one doesn’t require a lot of materials yet produces a piece of wood furniture you’ll have forever.

Simply put, it’s the style of the piece that really sets it apart and will make for a decor and functional highlight of your home.

You can paint or stain your finished piece to match your decor. I personally like the stained approach because paint may require an extra top-coat finish, since the work surface can take a beating over time.

Pick up some wood and get your saw revved up for this one. You’ll be smiling every time you sit down to do some desk work!
